FinTech for Breakfast
Held on November 2 2016
A debrief of the session is available here.
Izabella Kaminska (FT Alphaville)
Tom Graham (Accenture)
It’s been a busy few weeks in FinTech – when isn’t it? Thankfully, we have our regular guide, Izabella Kaminska, of FT Alphaville, to help us sort through the biggest stories.
No doubt more stories will break, but here’s what’s been catching our eyes:
- Brexit failed to deter Soft Bank and Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund from basing a new $100bn tech fund in London;
- InsureTech leapt up the media agenda, after Financial Technology Partners released a report detailing the scale of the burgeoning US market;
- VISA reported the ascent of mobile payments across Europe, with 74% of British consumers using some form of mobile banking; and
- Lord Turner revised his position on peer-to-peer lending.
Alongside Izabella we are delighted to welcome Tom Graham, Programme Director for Accenture's FinTech Innovation Lab in London. Applications for 2017’s intake closed this week, so we may be able to get some early insights into this year’s applications from Tom.
If you or a colleague would like to join us – and share your own thoughts – please let us know as soon as possible by calling the office (0207 621-1056) or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Coffee, tea and buns are on us this time, although we hope to be back with our regular hosts at Dentons for the next event.
