Advisory Council

Held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018

  • John Plender (FT)

We try to have two or three Advisory Council meetings each year, but I am horrified to see that this is the first scheduled for this year.

That said, I am extremely grateful to John Plender – whose columns in the FT I am sure you read – for continuing to chair the Council. Despite the gap since the last one, we value what comes out of the Council meetings – and we do our best to make sure that our agenda reflects what our supporters tell us they are interested in. Last time, ‘Brexit’ loomed large – and I am sure it will again. But we also talked about:

- the payment infrastructure of the future;

- the High-Level Group on Sustainable Finance;

- the end of QE;

- the intractable pensions issues; and

- the death of LIBOR

Some of those issues are still with us – but with Brexit getting murkier all the time, there is a temptation to look beyond it at AI and DLT and all the other acronyms in our financial group.

That said, it is not up to me to set the agenda. I would much rather that you joined John in doing that. So, if you would like to join us and share your own thoughts and interests, please let us know by emailing or calling the Centre at 0207 621 1056. There will be plenty of wine (and sandwiches) to keep us all fairly mellow.

Many thanks,

Andrew Hilton
