FinTech for Breakfast (32)
To be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018
With support from Dentons
Jemima Kelly (FT Alphaville)
Tim Jones (Tibado)
Rachel Bentley (KPMG)
For our final FinTech tour d’horizon of the summer, we are pleased to welcome back Jemima Kelly of FT Alphaville. Jemima joined FTAV in the spring from Reuters, where she was FX and FinTech correspondent – and she is freshly back from a trip to investigate the FinTech scene in Kaliningrad (World Cup timing entirely coincidental).
Joining Jemima will be Rachel Bentley, senior FinTech manager for KPMG in London, and Tim Jones, serial payments entrepreneur (first with Mondex, now with Tibado), independent director of ITG Inc., and former CEO of NEST and head of retail banking at NatWest.
As ever, the agenda will be up to the minute, but so far this month:
- the UK government launched a new Rapid Cybersecurity Advancement centre in London, with Lloyds Bank among the founding partners;
- Revolut launched a marketplace for business banking apps;
- Bitcoin stumbled briefly below the $6,000 mark, after a critical report from the BIS and ambiguous activity from ‘stable coin’ Tether; and
- Microsoft launched a new blockchain proposition for enterprise clients in partnership with EY.
If you (or a friend/colleague) would like to join us, please let us know by calling 0207 621 1056 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks to Dentons’s hospitality, there will be lots of tea, coffee and buns.
