FinTech for Breakfast

Held on Wednesday, March 21, 2017.

With support from Dentons

  • Angus Young (CSFI)

  • Peter Cunnane (Innovate Finance)

  • Daniel Gusev (Gauss Partners)

We can’t promise you a FinTech journalist this month, so we’ll be relying on Angus Young, the CSFI’s in-house FinTech enthusiast, to add some structure to proceedings. Angus has been producing our monthly FinTech bulletin for over a year now, and prior to joining us spent ten years as a financial services and tech M&A banker.

Thankfully he’ll have plenty of back-up. We are delighted to welcome Peter Cunnane, until recently the City of London’s fintech policy lead, currently seconded over to Innovate Finance to help this year’s Global Summit run smoothly and to support the policy team in expanding their outreach. Also joining us will be Daniel Gusev, a managing partner of VC fund Gauss Ventures, serial entrepreneur, and ambassador for the Russian FinTech Association.

So what’s on the menu (apart from #IFGS)? The EU has launched its FinTech Action Plan, hoping to help firms expand across borders; Mark Carney warned that cryptocurrencies are headed for a “pretty brutal reckoning”; the Treasury Select Committee has kicked off an inquiry into blockchain; Gibraltar is hoping to be the first jurisdiction to regulate ICOs; challenger banks have had a good month for fundraising; Amazon is reportedly in partnership talks with JPMorgan… and we’re only half way through the month.

As ever, these sessions are an opportunity to share, and to learn – the more we all know, the better placed we all are. If you (or a friend/colleague) would like to join us to share your own experiences, please let us know by calling 0207 621 1056 or emailing As usual, thanks to Dentons’s hospitality, there will be tea, coffee and buns.

Sincerely yours,

Andrew Hilton
