FinTech for Breakfast
Held on Thursday, December 7, 2017.
With support from Dentons
Izabella Kaminska (FT Alphaville)
Louise Beaumont (Open Banking Working Group)
Matthew Gardiner (Catch London)
This will be our final FinTech meeting of the year, and many of the headlines this month have a familiar feel: Bitcoin continues to scale new heights, ICO scams are plentiful, a few blockchain uses have had successful “proofs of concept”, and A.I. has even Hillary Clinton talking.
But it is not all same old, same old. PSD2 and Open Banking are on our doorstep (with GDPR not far behind), whether the banking sector is ready or not. Corporate venture capital funds are changing the European investment landscape, with financial institutions buying more of their would-be competitors than ever before. And FinTech’s hot/cold relationship with the Chinese regulators has taken a frosty turn, with P2P lending the latest application in the spotlight.
This will be our last breakfast anchored by Izabella Kaminska, editor at FT Alphaville (for the time being at least). Joining Izabella we are pleased to welcome:
- Louise Beaumont, strategic advisor to the Publicis Group, co-chair of techUK’s Open Bank Working Group, and member of the working and stakeholder groups at the Open Banking Implementation Entity; and
- Matthew Gardiner, founder of tech consultancy Catch London, and regular speaker on all things FinTech, fresh from an extended trip around the tech hubs of Asia-Pacific.
As usual, this is a caring and sharing experience – so please do share your thoughts on agenda with firstname.lastname@example.org, or register for the event by calling 0207 621 1056 or emailing email@example.com. Thanks to Dentons, I can promise excellent coffee and buns.
